A printed Index of Heriot-Watt Postgraduate theses is
available at the Service Desk. Postgraduate theses are not kept on the open
shelves, so if you want to look at them you must request
them at the Service Desk. Most theses can only
be used in the Library, but if two copies are held, one
may be borrowed. In other cases, ask the awarding School
for a loan copy.
Electronic copies of postgraduate theses are
available through
ROS: The Research Output Service, and details are
included in the Library
catalogue.
The Library also has undergraduate honours
dissertations and Masters dissertations for
some Schools at Heriot-Watt University. These are
shelved on Level 2 in the section labelled
"Dissertations". For more information on these
dissertations, please ask at the Service Desk.
The Scottish Borders Campus Library holds collections of
postgraduate theses, dissertations and student projects
for subjects taught and researched at the Scottish
Borders Campus.
The Theses Collection includes PhDs, MPhils,
and some bound copies of other types of dissertation.
The Student Projects are a selection from
taught postgraduate courses - such as MSc and MDes - and
undergraduate courses.
All theses and projects are included in the Library
catalogue and are marked respectively as "Theses
Collection" and "Student Projects". If you are looking
for a specific thesis or project, you can search by
author or title in the catalogue. For more

Theses are kept in the Thesis
Room on the Ground Floor of the Library . If you wish to
look at a thesis, please give details to the Service
Desk. Most theses are for "Reference" only, but if two
copies are held, one may be borrowed. Student Projects
are located on shelves next to the Enquiry Desk on the
First Floor of the Library, and may be borrowed for one
week.
Selected projects are gradually being made available
online.
