It can be difficult to anticipate the costs of achieving your degree. Heriot-Watt's Student Support and Accommodation department have prepared guidance for students including calculations for a basic student budget as a rough guide to expenditure over an academic year. Outgoings are contrasted with funding obtained by grants and other financial support including student loans.
The aim of this guide is to provide mentors with some general information on how to support students with mental health difficulties. The Guide covers the signs to look out for, the triggers that can give rise to mental health problems, and ways of supporting and helping students with these problems. A list of useful contacts is also provided.
Student Support and Accommodation provides a counselling service covering personal matters. For students with special needs and disabilities, a team of special needs advisers is available for advice and support. Student Loans and the Hardship Funds are administered from our office. You can find information on accommodation, student counselling, managing your money, disability and learning difficulties here.
