Athena SWAN Survey 2013
The Athena SWAN Charter recognises commitment to advancing women's careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education. The Charter was launched in June 2005 and has three levels of award, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Heriot-Watt University was a founding member of the Charter. Athena SWAN at Heriot-Watt University
Heriot-Watt University has a long history with the Charter as one of the founding members of the Charter back in 2005. The University also held a Bronze Award between 2007-2011.
We are currently working on a submission for a Bronze Award for April 2013. A new Self-Assessment Team (SAT) has been established under the leadership of Prof. Steve McLaughlin, Head of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. The SAT currently meets monthly and reports into the University's Equality and Diversity Advisory Group which is Chaired by the Secretary of the University.
