The Edinburgh Local GRADschool is a 3 or 4 day residential experiential learning course, aiming to raise participants’ awareness of their personal and professional skills. It is aimed at final and penultimate year PhD students.
History of Local GRAD schools
During the academic year 2005-2006, in partnership with Edinburgh University, Heriot-Watt hosted the first ever Edinburgh Local GRADschool in April 2006. Due to the success of this first ever local grad school in Scotland the two universities staged a second Edinburgh Local GRADschool at Pollock Halls, in July 2006.
During the acedmic year 2006-2007, in partnership with Edinburgh University, Heriot-Watt took part in 5 local grad schools, 37 PhD students from HW attended.
During the acedmic year 2007-2008, in partnership with Edinburgh University, Heriot-Watt organised and hosted 3 local GRADschools.
During the acedmic year 2009-2009, in partnership with Edinburgh University, Heriot-Watt organised and hosted 1 local GRADschool.
