Introduction

This course is designed to provide students with a unique pathway into the Heriot-Watt University undergraduate degree programmes in Management and Engineering at the Dubai Campus. It is specifically designed as a foundation programme which will help students to bridge the gap between their school qualifications and the demands of a university degree. Students who complete the course successfully will be able to progress directly into the first year of their chosen degree programme. The course will help students to develop their subject knowledge whilst providing a firm foundation in IT, research and writing skills, academic English and assessment and examination techniques.

Course Aims

• To provide a unique, specifically designed progression route from school to a range of Heriot-Watt University degree programmes
• To provide a strong foundation in academic areas relevant to the Heriot-Watt University undergraduate degree programmes.
• To develop study skills and introduce students to aspects of information technology, research skills, assessment skills etc.
• To enhance students academic English language skills.
• To prepare students to be able to engage effectively with a UK higher education degree programme.
• To help manage the transition into higher education and the different pedagogical approaches.
