• Union Canal to Lanark Rd, bridge over Lanark Rd to Water of Leith. Water of Leith to Blinkbonny, up hill cross Lanark Rd, Muirwood Rd, Donkey Lane, Farm Road, Riccarton Mains Rd

On road

Busy but mainly flat

• A71 through Dalry, Gorgie, Saughton, Sighthill, enter campus at Hermiston Walk

Slightly quieter but a little more up and down

• Dundee Street, Slateford Rd, Inglis Green Rd, Murrayburn Rd, West Burn Avenue, farm road on the right (on sharp left hand bend), over level crossing, Riccarton Mains Rd
• Dundee Street, Slateford Rd, Lanark Rd, Muir Wood Rd, Corslet Rd, Riccarton Mains Rd

From further south: Morningside

• Colinton Rd, Colinton Village, Lanark Rd, Muir Wood Rd, Corslet Rd, Riccarton Mains Rd
