Job description

The Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University is a postgraduate Institute with a number of popular and industry-standard Masters courses, as well as a population of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

The Institute is currently seeking to employ up to four Teaching Fellows for a period of three years, to work in one or more of the following areas – petroleum engineering, petroleum geoscience, formation evaluation, production technology, drilling engineering or petroleum economics. These disciplinary areas are core to the Institute’s suite of MSc programmes and the successful applicants will work closely with senior staff to enhance/develop courses, deliver teaching and assess student work to enable delivery both in the UK and overseas.

Candidates should have a relevant first degree and possession of an MSc or PhD degree is desirable. Previous experience of teaching would be an advantage.

Teaching is delivered at the main Heriot-Watt campus in Edinburgh, and in overseas locations and some travel will be required.
