Research Leaders in School of Life Sciences - Psychology and Human Health

The School of Life Sciences is unique in providing research and education across disciplines ranging from food science to Psychology in an integrated and multidisciplinary fashion.

Heriot-Watt University's 5 year strategy is to recruit global research leaders. The School of Life Sciences is opening up a number of opportunities to support this at all academic levels from Lecturer to Professor. These posts will be available in the fields of Psychology and Human Health and given the School’s increasing international agenda, applications from those with an international perspective would be particularly welcome.

At Heriot-Watt Psychology bridges the gaps that are often found between theory and real-word application. Our research activities are focused on two research groups concerning Lifespan Cognitive and Social Development, and Attention, Perception and Action.

In addition to the research that has been funded by research councils, much of our research is carried out in collaboration with external bodies from the public and private sectors such as the NHS, the Scottish Executive, the Health and Safety Executive, and the Transport and Road Research Laboratory.

For Human Health, applications are sought from those with experience of research and teaching in a subject relevant to the School’s areas of interest: Molecular/Biochemical Nutrition; Metabolism; Mechanisms of Human Disease and Disease Prevention; Physiology / Pathophysiology; Biomarker Development.

Under the Global Platform recruitment programme we would welcome applications from research leaders in these areas. Further details on each of these opportunities are available in the applicant information packs (see adjacent panel).
