Job description

The Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University is a postgraduate Institute with a number of popular and industry-standard Masters courses, as well as a population of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

The Institute is currently seeking to recruit a Research Associate for a two year period to assist in the development of research projects within the Centre for Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 solutions or consultancy studies. The appointee will undertake experiments involving investigation into the flow of gas, water and oil in core samples or other porous media at reservoir conditions. The post will involve the role-holder designing and performing experiments, preparing experimental facilities, running tests and analysing and reporting data. Laboratory experience gained from working in a core laboratory or a similar field is necessary.

Candidates should have an MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering and be experienced in conducting core floods and micromodel experiments.
