Job description
Enhancing academic practice is integral to the core objectives of Heriot-Watt University as it focuses on excellence in its Research & Knowledge Transfer and Learning & Teaching strategies.
Heriot-Watt University’s ‘Academic Enhancement’ department has been established with the aim of supporting and facilitating research and teaching excellence and innovation by the institution’s entire academic community (ranging from PhD students and research associates to lecturers and professorial staff).
Your role will be to provide leadership on a wide range of training and development initiatives and programmes as part of the "Research Futures" function of Academic Enhancement (AE). You will lead coordination and delivery of AE's training and development for early career researchers (PhD students, Research Associates and Lecturers), and contribute to a variety of programmes fostering academic leadership in research, KE and Learning & Teaching. You will support implementation of the University's Research & KE Strategy and the 'Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers', and further strengthen Heriot-Watt's researcher development activity, reputation and impact.
The successful candidate will be educated to PhD level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and up-to-date knowledge of researcher development policies and drivers within Higher Education in the UK. You will be based at the Edinburgh campus and collaborate with colleagues across the institution and externally to ensure engagement with researcher development at Heriot-Watt University.
This is a temporary position created by the secondment of the existing post-holder. A secondment option is available to appropriate candidates.
