Michele Stenhouse, International Executive Officer

I'm involved in supporting the strategic side of the University's global learning partner network. I'm also involved in home and overseas graduations and organise the logistical and financial arrangements for the overseas graduation ceremonies.

I have worked with some very good managers who have encouraged me to progress my career and pushed me out of my comfort zone

Graduations are currently held in Moscow, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Trinidad, with plans for additional ceremonies as the University continues to develop its international activities. I'm lucky to be part of the team attending overseas graduations, which is hard work but very enjoyable, and I get to meet interesting people.

A progressing career

I joined Heriot-Watt University 26 years ago, starting off as a secretary in the Estate Office. Since then I've had a variety of roles – including Secretary to the Academic Registrar & Deputy Secretary, Administrative Officer to the Principal, and Alumni Relations Officer – before moving into my current role.

During my time at Heriot-Watt, I studied part-time for a BA Business Studies degree, which has helped me to progress my career

During my time here, I've also studied part-time for a BA Business Studies degree at Heriot-Watt's School of Management & Languages, which has helped me to progress my career.

I have been fortunate throughout my time at Heriot-Watt to have worked with some very good managers, who have encouraged me to progress my career and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

My proudest achievements

I'm very proud to have been part of the establishment of the Dubai Campus, which is now a really successful enterprise with around 1,400 students.

I'd sum up my time at Heriot-Watt as being very happy and fulfilling. I've really enjoyed having the opportunity to work in different roles in various sections of the University.
